Portable Profile is a syntax-aware editor just for your bash/zsh profile. It syncs the profile to all your macs via iCloud so you will never be missing an alias or shortcut when you most need it.
Can I use Portable Profile without iCloud?
iCloud is required in order to sync the profile. Without iCloud you can still use it locally on your machine as an editor.
Does the app need to be open to sync my profile?
No. As long as you have given Portable Profile access to your home directory, it will update the .bash_profile to source the portable profile in your iCloud drive folder. Once that has happened, your profile will sync automatically, all you need to do is open a new terminal window to load it.
My profile isn't being saved, what's wrong?
1. Make sure you have saved your profile, and try testing it with Command-R (File -> Save and Run).
2. Is iCloud Drive enabled? You should be able to find a file called .portable_profile in your iCloud Drive folder.
3. Did you allow Portable Profile to access your home directory? If you run 'cat' on your ~/.bash_profile, you should see lines for Portable Profile.
